The Last Story - City walkthrough

Another example of a Next-Gen experience made possible on the Wii. I can see myself having a lot of fun in this city with all the banana shooting and messing around you can do.

The Last Story - battle system demo

Another fantastic video for this highly anticipated game. I can't believe that Japan is getting this game in their hands in just a few days. I sincerely hope there will be a localization for this one.

The Last Story - 15 minute demo

Vibrant, amazing, best Wii graphics ever...you name it for The Last Story. This looks better than a lot of PS3 games in my opinion. Can you imagine if a game like this was available in 2006 when the Wii launched?

This graphic was designed by Lorena O'Neal, you can check out more of
her work here.

3DS - launch games

These are listed as "launch window" games, meaning that they will be released within a month of the 3DS release date or soon after. SSFIV or Dead or Alive.....tough choice after seeing more from both games recently.

3DS - release date and price

New info straight from the conference:

Simple system online updates after purchase will help activate features
One unique friend code per 3DS, register once!
When friends are registered via local wireless, it is instant. No code exchange needed. No codes needed to play with those registered friends online. See what they're playing when they're playing. Join them easily.

Spotpass makes contact with wireless broadband for receiving content, even when you aren't activating it yourself. Works in sleep mode and even when any game is in the slot. You can block this activity if you want.

Nintendo e-Shop makes shopping easier. Game Boy and Game Boy Color hits added, plus new downloadable software titles.
Nintendo is kicking off a tour with 5,000 interactive demo units in the launch period. Mobile units as well for street stops. Aim to reach 400,000 people during an 8-week launch campaign. Hoping to have 1 million people test the unit this summer.

Nintendo 3DS will cost $249.

Nintendo 3DS will launch March 27th in US

So what do you all think about this??? I'm fine with the price, but some people I know will wait a bit for a price cut.

Nintendo week - January 17th

A nice show, I usually don't even watch it but this one looked a little more entertaining than normal.

The Last Story - Japanese commercial

No word on an English translation as of yet and I know we all are hoping for it. I seem to remember when Monster Hunter 3 was out in Japan there was a hacker that translated the game in English and made a downloadable ISO so people who wanted to play in English could. I hoping that Nintendo releases this in the US because it would seem like a ton of effort would be wasted if only the gaming community in Japan got to play this game.

Wii & DS were top selling systems of 2010

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Great games, great experiences and great value led Nintendo to finish 2010 with the two top-selling video game systems in the United States. The Nintendo DS™ family of systems finished in first place with more than 8.5 million sold in 2010, while the Wii™ system topped all home consoles with more than 7 million sold, according to the NPD Group, which tracks video game industry sales in the United States.
“Of the quarter billion hardware systems sold in the United States during the past 10 years, Nintendo sold more than half. We look forward to bringing fun new experiences to consumers when Nintendo 3DS launches in March.”
Nintendo sold more than 2.5 million Nintendo DS systems and more than 2.3 million Wii systems in December alone, bringing their lifetime U.S. sales totals to more than 47 million and more than 34 million, respectively.
With the new Nintendo 3DS™ system set to launch in the United States in March, Nintendo has strong momentum heading into 2011. Nintendo 3DS lets users view 3D images without the need for special glasses. More information about the system will be made available during a Jan. 19 preview event in New York.
“Nintendo has sold more game systems than anyone else for five years running,” said Charlie Scibetta, Nintendo of America’s senior director of Corporate Communications. “Of the quarter billion hardware systems sold in the United States during the past 10 years, Nintendo sold more than half. We look forward to bringing fun new experiences to consumers when Nintendo 3DS launches in March.”
Three of the top five best-selling games of December play exclusively on Nintendo systems. These include Just Dance 2 from Ubisoft at No. 1, Donkey Kong Country Returns™ from Nintendo at No. 3 and Disney Epic Mickey from Disney Interactive Studios at No. 4. For all of 2010, 13 of the top 25 best-selling games play on Nintendo systems. This includes two of the top five; five of the top 10; and nine of the top 15.

So my question is, how upset will all the new DS owners be in 2 months when the 3DS is released? LOL

That is pretty impressive that the Wii still outsold the Xbox 360 overall this year. With Kinect making a big impact and the lower price of the 360 helped it with sales the Wii still managed to just squeeze by with more sales.

Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3DS footage

The village returns! This location is one of my all time favorites for any video game I've played. It brings back so many memories of that first encounter in Resident Evil 4, I'm so glad that they put it into the 3DS version.

Wii & DS set new records for sales in 2010

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The close of 2010 produced two sales milestones for Nintendo in the United States.

According to Nintendo’s internal sales figures, the Nintendo DS™ family of portable video game systems has sold more than 47 million in the United States since the original model launched in November 2004. That tally makes Nintendo DS the nation’s best-selling video game system of all time.
For the second major milestone of 2010, Nintendo’s internal figures show that the Wii™ home console marked its third consecutive calendar year with U.S. sales of more than 7 million – a feat never before accomplished in the history of video games by a home console. To date, the Wii system has sold more than 34 million in the United States alone.
“When we look back at 2010, we see consumers time and again turning to the value and enjoyment of our products,” said Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. “When we look ahead to 2011, we see new portable technology and more great Wii games that need to be seen to be believed.”
Nintendo is set to release its new Nintendo 3DS™ hand-held system in the United States in March. The portable system lets players see 3D content – without the need for special glasses. More details about the system will be announced in the future.

Remember that Wii features parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access. For more information about this and other features, visit http://wii.com. For more information about Nintendo, visit http://www.nintendo.com.

It's nice that Nintendo has done so well, but 2011 will be a really telling year as to which direction they will be taking with the Wii. Will they upgrade the home console, announce a new one, or just leave the Wii as is?

Have a wonderful weekend guys. Have you been getting caught up on all your post holiday games? I've still got a few to play but I'm getting there. Have fun!

Gametrailers best Wii game

The best game this year in my opinion is a toss up between DKC or SMG2. It's really hard to pick a better game than those two....

Thursday, December 30, 2010

Heavy Fire: Black Arms - debut trailer

This WiiWare game looks better than the 49.99 priced on-rails Ghost Recon for Wii. It's crazy what a known name will do for pricing. This doesn't look bad for what it is, but when people look back at the Wii I wonder how many on-rail shooters it will have in the end?

Wednesday, December 29, 2010

God vs Humans - debut trailer

If this were really God vs Humans I don't think they would stand a chance. Looks very strange, but like most WiiWare games you don't really know if it's good unless you try it out for yourself.

The Last Story - tons of footage!!!

If the above video is not working please watch this shorter one below

Talk about looking amazing! This game raises the bar in not only graphics for Wii game but also for real-time RPG's in general. The gameplay looks fantastic. It's supposed to be a 30 hour game which apparently is the "sweet spot" for an Action RPG. I agree, since Zelda games are usually a similar length. I can't wait to get my hands on this one in the States.

The Last Story - short new video

Short but oh so sweet! Finally after what will be 5 years after the release of the Wii we get a game that truly shows how much the Wii can really do graphically. I'm very impressed.

Everyone have a safe Holiday weekend! Don't do anything I wouldn't do.....

Super Mario All-Stars - new trailer

Has anyone been enjoying re-living these classics yet? There has been some complaints of the packaging but for the most part I can't see how you could go wrong with any of these 4 games.

Mario Sports Mix - new video

40 minutes is a lot of footage to show off this game. I think it actually looks better than expected. Nice graphics and seemingly fun gameplay. It remains to be seen how responsive the controls are, but we'll find out soon.

The Last Story - new screens

This is easily my most anticipated game of 2011 for the Wii. From the developers working on it to the Nintendo promoting it big time in Japan, you can be sure that this game will be epic in ever sense of the word. I'm still hopefully that we'll get Xenoblade here in the states as well.

Lost In Shadow - video preview

There you have the Wii's first game of 2011. It looks like what the Wii is all about: nice style, innovative design and unique controls. Whether or not the game is fun will have to be answered when it's finally released.

Fluidity - new gameplay video

Once in a while a Wii Ware game will come around that will be of really good quality. that might be the case with Fluidity. From all the reviews and just how it looks, it seems to be a solid unique game. Have any of you had time to check this one out yet?

Funny: Yoshi secretly hates Mario

Hey, I'd hate him too if I had to save his butt like that in SMW2. Baby Mario was/is probably the worst version of Mario known to man. Great video though.

Best Wii games of the year nominees

Do you agree with this list? What happened to Metroid Other M, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Goldeneye, NBA Jam, Sonic Colors or even Epic Mickey? It's funny about Epic Mickey seeing that G4 listed the game as "best" in many categories but didn't mention Super Mario Galaxy 2 once. At least Gamespot has SMG2 on the list at all.

What is your favorite Wii game of 2010?

Monday, December 13, 2010

Epic Mickey - design trailer

I haven't had the chance to play this game yet, I've been enjoying so much DKCR that a lot of games that I still want to play will have to wait a bit longer. I will play it though and see for myself if the controls really do hurt the experience or not. Looks great from a design stand point though.

Super Mario All-Stars Limited Edition - unpacking video

Will you guys be picking this one up on Sunday? It may be a no-brainer or it may take some time to consider. The reason is because many people still have the original Super Mario All-Stars on the SNES. You can't go wrong either way though.

Lost In Shadow - pre-launch secrets

The presentation of this game looks very fresh and unique. I'm actually getting a lot more interested in this now that all the heavy hitters have been released already this year. Smart move by the developer to wait a bit to bring the game out.

Mario Sports Mix - new video

How many Mario games have there been in the last year? Mario is celebrating his 25th anniversary so what better way than to have a new game, this time with more sports. These games are sometimes a hit or miss even with Mario. Parts of this game do look fun though.

Mario Kart Wii - new commerical

In the UK that is. Amazing how much legs this game has had over the years, I believe this is the highest selling "game" (Wii Sports, Wii Play not included) this generation. According to VGChartz, Mario Kart Wii has sold over 23 million copies worldwide. Does this game deserve these sales? I certainly think it does.

Nintendo sells 600,000 Wii's on Black Friday

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- When confronted with a wide range of Black Friday retail options, U.S. holiday shoppers again turned to Nintendo. Nintendo sold 900,000 combined units in the Nintendo DS™ family of systems and 600,000 Wii™ consoles between Sunday, Nov. 21, and Saturday, Nov. 27, according to the company’s internal sales estimates.
“U.S. shoppers bought about 9,000 Nintendo hardware systems nonstop for every hour of every day during the week of Black Friday,” said Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. “For the past several years, consumers have decided that Nintendo defined both top value and all-inclusive entertainment, and that sentiment continues again at the start of this shopping season.”
Nintendo’s Black Friday surge was fueled by multiple new hardware colors, each of which comes bundled with games. The bundles provide a great value for shoppers who are looking to get the biggest bang for their video game bucks. These bundles, all of which are available while supplies last, include:
Limited-edition Mario red Wii hardware in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Super Mario Bros.™ game on the NES™. It includes a new red Wii system, a red Wii Remote™ Plus controller, a red Nunchuk™ controller, and games New Super Mario Bros.™ Wii and Wii Sports™ at a suggested retail price of $199.99.
A limited-edition red Nintendo DSi XL™ bundle in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Super Mario Bros. game on the NES. It features a Mario red Nintendo DSi XL system with three iconic Super Mario Bros.-themed graphics, the Mario Kart™ DS game and preloaded software, including Brain Age™ Express: Arts & Letters, Brain Age Express: Math and Photo Clock. It is available at a suggested retail price of $179.99.
Orange and green Nintendo DSi™ systems, which are bundled with the Mario Party™ DS game. They are available at a suggested retail price of $149.99.
In addition to the great hardware bundles, shoppers have dozens of great video game options for everyone on their shopping lists. Some exclusive games for the Wii console include Super Mario Galaxy™ 2, Metroid™: Other M, Wii Party™, Kirby’s Epic Yarn™, PokéPark™ Wii: Pikachu’s Adventure, FlingSmash™ (which comes bundled with the new Wii Remote Plus) and Donkey Kong Country™ Returns. Third-party Wii games include New Carnival Games® from 2K Play, NBA JAM from EA Sports, Just Dance® 2 from Ubisoft, Sonic Colors™ from SEGA, GoldenEye 007™ from Activision Publishing Inc. and Disney Epic Mickey from Disney Interactive Studios.
On the portable Nintendo DS family of systems, shoppers can choose games like DRAGON QUEST® IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies™, Professor Layton and the Unwound Future™, Pokémon Ranger™: Guardian Signs, Art Academy™, Mario vs. Donkey Kong™: Mini-Land Mayhem! and Golden Sun™: Dark Dawn. Some key third-party Nintendo DS games include Super Scribblenauts™ from WB Games, Rock Band® 3 from MTV Games, GoldenEye 007 from Activision Publishing Inc. and Sonic Colors from SEGA.

It's hard for me to imagine the Wii being able to pull of these numbers again during the next holiday season. Third Party developers besides a select few have all but given up on the Wii and next to no big games outside of Nintendo themselves are planned for next year. Nintendo is definitely not in trouble though as this kind of things seems to happen after the 4 year of a consoles lifespan and even more so with the Wii since it's technology is not what developers wanted from the start. Many lost causes on the Wii and lost opportunities for developers to really show what the system could do early on in it's life.

Conduit 2 - new trailer

I find it funny how so many people are on 2 fences when it comes to Wii first person shooters. On one side you have those that think The Conduit's controls feel superior to the Call of Duty games on Wii and you have the other side that think MW/Black Ops feels much more responsive than The Conduit. I never did like the feel of the original Conduit game but I'm hopeful that the new one can make a lot of improvements in that area too.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Wii - first patch download

I say first because some people are still having issues after the update. Just go to the online multiplayer and you'll be automatically prompted for the update download. I'm having no problems at all and I'm happy that finally my control presets all stay the way I set them instead of them sometimes forgetting where they're supposed to be (unbound and camera sensitivity).

Fix details:

Unable to connect to multiplayer without switching profiles
Freezes during matchmaking when using the LAN adapter
Players were sometimes kicked out af a game right before it started
Changes to custom controls and options were not saving correctly (“Unboundglitch”)
Wager match specific bug in Radiation that caused dead players to teleport
Fixed “care package glitch” where player could get infinite number of ‘SamTurret’, ‘Care Package’, and ‘Sentry Gun’ killstreaks

Donkey Kong Country Returns - video review

From what I've been reading/watching this DKC starts out to be extremely similar to the SNES games but then after a few levels it branches off into new territory. I'm very excited to play this, side scrolling challenge is what I was raised on and this looks to have all that and more.

Wii games: what works and what doesn't

The Wii has become known for it's on-rails shooters but making a game like Ghost Recon an on-rails game is an insult. Forcing the issue is not going to make the game better or more rewarding. On-rails has been a proven failure on the Wii for the most part besides House of the Dead. Call of Duty: Black Ops represents what developers should have been trying to do with the Wii since it was released in '06. Better late than never I guess, I just wish it wasn't this late.

Sonic Colors - video review

This seems to be the best 3D Sonic game probably since Sonic Adventure 2 or 1. I'm really liking the variety of gameplay without having to use other characters all the time. The graphics look like they are taking some examples of what works from Super Mario Galaxy, which can only be a good thing.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Wii - Gametrailers review

This week might as well be Black Ops Wii week since we didn't get any reviews or media for the Wii version before the release of the game. I'm sure glad Gametrailers took the time to go in-depth with this one and give us an honest review. If this were a stand alone game on Wii with no HD version available I'm pretty sure this would be a 9 or higher rating. I'm very pleased with the game as is on Wii.

I hope you guys are enjoying this game as much as possible. I feel that this game is truly the first next gen feeling game on the Wii. It really is great.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Wii - Vietnam video

This is a good example of how the Wii handles the levels in Black Ops where things get very cinematic. I think I this is one of the more fun levels in the game and definitely looks great on the Wii. If you haven't bought this game yet, you're missing out on one of the best games this year.

I keep forgetting to add my Ally Code here, as soon as I get a chance I'll post it so we can have a nice friendly Free For All or Team Deathmatch. I really like the game's online system since adding friends is really easy and joining up with them while they are online is even easier.

Donkey Kong Country Returns - video preview

This game looks even more amazing now that they are showing some of the fire and smoke effects. I'm not sure which control style I'll choose but if it's similar to NSMBWii I will probably just use the Wii remote. Have a great weekend guys.

Sonic Colors - new video

I've been playing nothing but COD:Black Ops for the last few days but I haven't forgotten about this one. It looks really fun, maybe after another week or so of Black Ops I'll be able to pull myself away from it and play a Sonic game that actually looks good.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Wii - online video

The person who uploaded the video was using the classic controller, so that is why it doesn't really look like the Wii game in terms of control. You can get online with no problems actually. I know a lot people can't get on and it's not a server glitch but a game issue that Activision needs to patch soon. You need to create 2 profiles, one to get connected to the server and one to play with online. It shouldn't be necessary but this is currently the only way to connect for a Wi-Fi match. The game is awesome on Wii, I really think everyone here will enjoy it a lot more than Goldeneye; it's just a very high quality game.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Wii - first videos

While the character models are definitely improved from Modern Warfare:Reflex, they are not quite up to the quality in Goldeneye. That being said, in my opinion I think that Black Ops Wii looks better in every other way than Goldeneye and runs at a smoother frame rate. Amazing particles, explosions, tons of NPC's on screen and no circle shadows. Zombie mode looks fantastic as well. Did you notice in the first video when it's being paused that in the control settings you set it to World at War or Modern Warfare pointer style? This is fantastic since owners of those games previous on the Wii will have no problem getting the game feeling comfortable for them in no time; which is another thing that people have had a problem with in Goldeneye. This is a must buy guys, but I'm sure you already knew that.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Wii - first screens

That is if you can call someone taking a picture of the back of the box for the Wii version "screens". If you click on the pics above you can make out that the Wii version does in fact look very good. I'm really excited to see some actual video footage though. If you've seen a more blown up version of the back of the box you'd notice that it says "additional fees for online use may be incurred" questions have arisen that this means that the Wii version will have DLC in the future. It could also mean that this is just saying what we already know, and that is the fact that it costs money to have an online connection at home. Regardless, I'm still hopeful that the Wii version will still have DLC.

Donkey Kong Country Returns - new trailer

It seems that there is some confusion as to when this game is being released. I've double checked and the release date for DKCR is November 21st. I remember way back in the day that the SNES DKC was released on the same day....looking forward to it!

Conduit 2 - new videos

While the game definitely looks improved and also having the voice of Duke Nukem as Mr. Ford, I'm still getting the impression that this game will ultimately disappoint with the "same old" kind of feel and gameplay as the first game. I'm hopeful that it will be fun, but can it draw people away from Goldeneye or especially Black Ops on Wii?

Goldeneye Wii - video review

Are you blasting your friends yet? I'm almost there myself, this afternoon I'll be campaigning and multiplayer/onlining to my hearts content.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 -video review

This is a really fun game and I highly suggest you pick it up even if you have the HD version already. The gameplay just flows really good and the controls feel really nice and satisfying. Go get this game and cut some Stormtroopers in half!

Goldeneye Wii - video preview with a twist

Hey, these girls make me want to play any game! Lol. I liked the graphics comparison part, while Goldeneye had some of the best graphics I'd ever seen 13 years ago, it's now a bit dated but still not too bad considering the age of the game. Tuesday is the day my friends.
