The Conduit: control customization video

I really like the option to make the screen stop turning if your cursor goes off-screen. In just about all Wii first person shooters thus far this has never been fixed or addressed. I know it seems like a little thing to be annoyed about but if you have move around to get more comfortable playing or you have to set the controllers down because the phone rings etc. you will usually loose the cursor and the screen will go spinning all crazy; this option simply and easily gets rid of that problem.

Crash Bandicoot: Mind over Mutant Wii screens

The Wii version of Crash is the lead sku out of all the other versions of the game. That means that finally the Wii is being treated like it's the leading console of this generation....which it is. Looks gorgeous.

The Conduit:: GC 2008 awards trailer

This game looks fantastic; there is work to be done however on things like the poorly animated human enemies, blood animation and some of the lighting effects. Besides that The Conduit is shaping up to be the must have game of 2009 for Wii. I have no doubt that the extra development time will ensure that the above concerns will be ironed out before it's release.

Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels walkthrough

This game looks cool, but as of right now I'm much more interested in The Force Unleashed seeing that the gameplay looks much more refined and it seemingly has a lot more you can do with your character. That being said, I haven't seen enough of the Clone Wars on Wii to truly make a clear cut decision but so far SWTFU is way ahead...

I'm happy that this game is coming to the Wii, but we need to see some actual footage or screens for me to get more hopeful. The old saying with video games is that if you don't see any previews or footage or anything at all and the game is then released, you know that probably the game isn't that good. This press release is a nice start and it sounds like they are putting some effort into it.

House of the Dead Overkill debut trailer

Great classic B movie horror film style and of course all the Zombies you could want. Everyone seems to love the Wii but they love it even more when you can shoot Zombies....looks great! Are you excited for this game?

House of the Dead Overkill announced for Wii

Press release:

THEY’VE COME FOR BRAINS, YOU’LL GIVE THEM BULLETS

The House of the Dead: OVERKILL Brings Pulp Horror Action to Wii

LEIPZIG (August 19th, 2008) – SEGA® Europe Ltd. and SEGA® of America, Inc. today announced The House of the Dead: OVERKILL, an all-new pulp-horror reinvention of the classic SEGA light-gun shooter franchise. Created by London-based studio Headstrong Games, The House of the Dead: OVERKILL will take you right back to the beginning of this classic horror series. Available exclusively on the Nintendo Wii early in 2009 and announced to coincide with Games Convention at Leipzig, The House of the Dead: OVERKILL will be presented live by developer Headstrong Games for specially invited members of the press in SEGA’s business centre suite.

The House of the Dead: OVERKILL uncovers the ugly, terrifying, red hot secrets behind the House of the Dead; the daddy of all over-the-top shooters. While staying true to the classic gameplay this hugely successful SEGA series is getting a new retro look, with distinctive graphics, sound and attitude that will add to its horror cool status. Plus, thanks to the Wii Remote™, players will fight off zombies when they get too close; pistol-whipping jaws off and smashing in skulls with their shotgun butt.

“We wanted to do something really different with The House of the Dead: OVERKILL,” commented Bradley Crooks, Studio Head at Headstrong Games. “With SEGA we’ve been able to create a fresh look for the franchise. I think you’ll agree it’s like nothing you’ve seen before on Wii.”

“Paying homage to the pulp horror comics and films that inspired generations of gore fans, The House of the Dead: OVERKILL will expose gamers to a brand-new fleshy rollercoaster ride of revolting dismemberment,” commented Gary Knight, European Marketing Director at SEGA Europe. “This is the hardcore Wii title you’ve been waiting for.”

The House of the Dead: OVERKILL takes you back to when Special Agent G was fresh out of the academy. Teamed up with hard-boiled bad-ass Detective Washington, they are sent to investigate stories of mysterious disappearances in small-town Louisiana. Little do they know what blood-soaked mutant depravity awaits them in the streets and swamps of Bayou City…

The House of the Dead: OVERKILL will be released in early 2009, exclusively for Nintendo Wii. For more information about the game, please visit http://www.houseofthedeadoverkill.com/.

So it seems The House of the Dead 2&3 test worked since the game has sold great on Wii ever since it' s release earlier this year. Thank you Sega for rewarding us with an original House of the Dead game for Wii, the game is looking awesome as well!

KORE - Debut Trailer

This game is looking extremely promising with a nice art style, nice lighting effects, highly detailed characters with lots of polygons and good reflections. The trailer seemed to be a graphics showcase with not much in the way of gameplay being shown as far as Wii control is concerned. Despite that, KORE looks like it could be a interesting platformer/action game for the Wii.

Captain Rainbow Wii screens

Just what the hell is this game all about you ask?

Here is a quick synopsis:

Captain Rainbow tells the story of a hero of the same name and his every day alter-ego Nick. Rainbow is the star of a television show in the land of the free, Mameruka. Thanks to the appearance of some unpopular characters, the ratings for his show have tanked. In order to gain back the show's popularity, Nick decides to head off to Mimin Island. Something happens along the way, however, and Nick learns that he is the only person who can help out the residents of Mimin.

And those residents happen to be forgotten characters from the Nintendo family, including Ossan, the character from the original Famicom Golf and Hikari, from the Japanese game Famicom Mukashibanashi. This unique game promised multiple gameplay features for a unique gaming experience.

This game is set to release in Japan only but are any of you interested in this and thinking of importing?

Star Fox SNES commercial

I played the original Star Fox last night on my --- and it is still a great game even after almost 16 years after the release date. Yes the game runs at 12 frames per second and the resolution is probably lower than you could imagine, but the core game is still intact and it is fun as hell. I remember the above commercial way back in 1993 and man it really got me pumped up for the game and of course I went out and bought it very quickly. That got me thinking.....what commercials are effective these days? There hasn't been a commercial that has made me really what to go out and buy a game in years. The "Wii would like to play" campaign was nice for casual people and a neat way to show off the Wii, but other than that there hasn't been anything worth while on Wii or the other systems as far as TV ads are concerned. Any games that peaked your interest lately by the commercial alone?

Wii DVD movie access unlocked - Wii burned DVD games coming soon

Thanks to an inadequate response from Nintendo, bushing has made the decision to go public with his ISO loading DVD loading exploit. Essentially what this means is that all users, including those without a modchip, will now be able to access to files stored on their own DVD-R. This really opens up a lot of useful possibilities with countless homebrew applications. Check out what folks at HacMii had to say:

Quote:
Note: this is not a backup loader, in any way, shape, or form. If you’re looking for a backup loader, please move along.

While Nintendo did reply to bushing’s open letter, he has not succeeded in establishing a conversation with an engineer about the issue. Furthermore, we have learned that they received and read at least two of the original three e-mails that were sent prior to the open letter, and decided not to reply (in fact, one of their replies was to one of the original e-mails, but only after the open letter was posted). Therefore, we can only conclude that they are not very interested in the issue.

As many of you may already know or have deduced, the bug in our open letter referred to a way of reading DVD-Rs (and Video DVDs) without the use of a modchip. Several people have investigated the bug independently, and they’ve gotten pretty close. However, we did discover an easier way of enabling this mode from homebrew, which, among other things, does not require any changes to IOS at all. This method is also relatively difficult to transform into some sort of backup loader.

Erant has been developing a library that uses this trick to enable DVD access for homebrew. We hope to release it this coming week, after a few details have been polished. svpe and dhewg have been working on a native mplayer port that uses this library to play back DVDs, which we hope to release as a proof-of-concept together with the library. We also have DVD-loading versions of snes9x and Genplus.

Non-modchip users will not need a custom IOS. Ironically, this method doesn’t work for users of some modchips. Therefore, these users will require a patched IOS using the well-known UnencryptedRead patch (the library will automatically use it if needed). We’ll try to release a somewhat more user-friendly version of patchmii dedicated to this task together with the library.

Could this mean an eventual ISO or DVD loader for downloaded backup games? Only time will tell, but for now I can safely say Nintendo should be nominated as "Dunce of the Week" for their lack of and follow through with getting this patched. I have a feeling this could come back to bite them...

Link to the directions on how to watch DVD movies on Wii

I've been watching movies and playing around with this thing and it really works good. SD movies work like a charm as well. It was about time this happened.....

Naruto: Clash of Ninja Revolution 2 video

This looks like one of the best fighting games to come to Wii yet. There isn't very many fighting games on Wii and my personal favorite is DBZT3, so until I play this game I can't be sure if it is "the best". It looks like it has the potential to be however.......enjoy the video.

Dead Rising Wii - new screens

This game is pretty ambitious for Capcom to attempt on the Wii after they themselves said it couldn't be done. It's looking very good and better than what I expected considering that they will have up to 100 zombies on screen (yes I know the 360 version had 300 on screen) with each zombie having a good amount of detail. No exact date has been set for the release but it is expected sometime in 2008.

Mushroom Men: music interview

It's amazing how much effort is being put into making the music for this game; Mushroom Men has a very organic sound and now I can see the reasons why. The release date is November 11th, who is thinking about picking this one up?

Dead Rising Wii to have 100 zombies on-screen

This video is of the Xbox 360 game but it gives you an idea of how many zombies fill the screen. The developers of the Wii version are pushing for 100 zombies on screen, which is a lot but still less than what was happening on 360 if you can believe that. With the adjustments that Capcom is making to the game with the camera system to fit the Wii's RE4-like control and architecture, I think that we may not be able to notice much difference with the number of zombies. I'm looking forward to more info and a video of this game in action on the Wii soon.

Fragile: Farwell Ruins of the Moon Wii screens

Being developed by tri-Crescendo (Eternal Sonata) and published by Namco, this RPG is looking fantastic with an extremely clean and slick cel-shaded graphics presentation on Wii. I posted screens of this game way back some months ago and it didn't look anywhere as good as it does now.

Fragile takes place in the near future, in a world that has lost its population. You play as Seto, a young boy who wanders around, searching through the abandoned cities and facilities of this world, trying to learn the truth behind the disappearance of all the people, and to find someone to keep him company.

The Wii remote is used as an aid in exploration. Seto uses a flashlight to light up his surroundings. You get to use the Wii remote to directly point the flashlight in whatever direction you like. Seto also has a metal detector. Once again, the Wii remote is used to directly operate this device. In addition to exploration, Seto has to deal with ghosts who appear in the ruins. I'm not sure how he fights those enemies, but it seems that a stick of some form is involved.

There is no release date for Fragile yet but mostly likely it will come out around the end of the year in Japan and hopefully soon after that in the US.

MadWorld more screens

I'm really hoping that this game doesn't get censored before it's release date. It has a lot going for it to not be censored- the black and white style, the comic book exclamations and the gameshow type announcers. However, if you've seen just how insanely violent this game is regardless of those things you'd still have to wonder if the ESRB will let this game get released with a "M" rating.

Capcom VS Nintendo fans

This is a funny video that mainly talks about Nintendo fans demanding Resident Evil 5 on the Wii. The part where it talks about a huge graphics and AI downgrade I don't agree with (AI and animation looks the same as RE4), but everything else is spot on and hilarious.
