Wii Motion-Plus developer programing video
AiLive has a new developer software program called "LiveMove 2" and it fully supports Wii Motion-Plus for things like sword fighting, throwing objects etc. This looks like a really good program that Third Parties can use to make Wii games that use the new technology that Nintendo just announced.

RE4 VS RE5 Video comparison
Where have you seen Resident Evil 5 before? Same animations, same level type of level design, same interaction with objects...etc. More reason for there to be a Wii version.

Red Steel 2 confirmed to us Wii Motion Plus

Ubisoft is one of the first publishers to confirm the use of the Wii MotionPlus peripheral to improve the execution of its core Wii titles.
Adopting the tech for the sequel to Red Steel, Alain Corre, Ubisoft's executive director, has said the improvement of 3D motions will help the sequel achieve the ambitious gameplay attempted in the first game.
"Red Steel 2 has been in development for many months now, and this new device will help us be even more precise in what we do with the product," said Corre, speaking exclusively to GamesIndustry.biz.
The original Red Steel was released on the same day the Wii launched in Europe, and attempted to mimic the users' movements for gunplay and hand-to-hand combat, but was criticised for a lack of sensitivity.
Corre believes that the Wii technology wasn't finished at the time of launch, but the recent announcement by Nintendo that the MotionPlus add-on will track true 1:1 responsive movement will allow the development team to realise its ambitions.
"The Red Steel brand is strong - I think we released it on year one, and that people understood that it was a first try on new technology, technology that wasn't completely finished. And our game tried to grab the best out of it, and was a bit rushed to be sure to offer something in year one to Wii consumers," he added.
"So Red Steel is a brand, and as with every brand we have, we now have to reach the top quality possible. What was missing was the preciseness of the sabre - and with this new device I think it will change the experience."
This announcement makes Red Steel 2 a more interesting game to keep an eye on. The first game had some fun levels but overall the game was a disappointment. Hopefully Ubisoft learned from other developers on how to make accurate FPS controls.

Comic-Con 2008 pics
Well Comic-Con was nice and I'm glad I got to take my Fiance with me since it was her first time going. How cool was she to take pictures of me with those girls? Very nice. For those of you who don't know who some of the people are in the pictures they are as follows: the second picture is Lue Ferrigno who played on TV the original "Incredible Hulk" back in the '80s, and is also a famous bodybuilder. The third picture is Peter Matthew who played everyone's favorite Wookie "Chewbacca" in Star Wars. The fourth picture is me with Pornstar Aurora Snow who is funningly famous for her "Duck" oral sex sounds that Howard Stern made public knowledge a few years back. The fifth picture is Miss July 2003 - Playboy Playmate Marketa Janska.
We had a great time!

Fatal Frame IV gameplay video
Believe it or not, I've never played or was interested in the Fatal Frame series. I'll have to give this one a chance since the controls for the flashlight and the behind the back camera are a first for the series. The game also appears to be more scary than I thought at first glance....

Resident Evil 5 Wii: Simon Jeffery thinks it's coming
The key quote from Simon Jeffery (President of Sega of America) when talking about hardcore gaming on the Wii is: "Resident Evil 5 (he pauses and thinks for a moment) when that happens on the Wii it's going to help." He then goes on to talk about Madworld.
How much faith can you have in a quote like this? It's difficult to say since he is from Sega and how much could he actually know about RE5 coming to the Wii? The other side of the coin is that Dead Rising was just announced for the Wii after Capcom said that it would be impossible to port the game over. I don't need to tell you that RE5 looks almost exactly the same as RE4 just in HD with better textures/lighting and Africa as the backdrop. If you've seen the E3 demo preview of the game, you'll see that it still has the same animations for the enemies and even for the main characters you control. It looks the same, pure and simple.
I'd say that Capcom would have an even easier time porting over Resident Evil 5 to the Wii than porting over Dead Rising; but since they are changing Dead Rising a bit to suite the Wii, why can't they do the same with RE5 if they need to?
I'm betting we'll see Resident Evil 5 Wii Edition about 8-10 months after the release of the game on Xbox 360 and PS3. Dead Rising says yes and profit says yes also.....
*UPDATE*
Christian Svensson, Corporate Officer/VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development of Capcom had this to say when asked about the Resident Evil 5 Wii slip up:
"Simon's a friend of mine... but I don't think I've spoken to him about anything like that.
Link
Hey guys I don't know about you but that is looking like a very strong hint that RE5 is in development for the Wii. That is definitely not a denial, and usually when Sven talks like that it means something is happening concerning that subject (for the Wii in this case) and he can't say anymore about it or it will interfere with Capcom's future plans. If Resident Evil 5 was announced right now for the Wii, how many sales would that take away from the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions which are almost finished? From a business standpoint I can understand if Capcom plays it quiet until after those versions are released, and then they may announce RE5 for the Wii.
There's a light at the end of the tunnel it seems....

The Conduit developer interview
Looks like there is some new gameplay footage shown in a few spots on the video. This is turning into the most anticipated Wii game since Smash Bros.
Sonic and the Black Knight screens & info

- same dev team as Secret Rings
- “This time, a sorceress named Merlina summons Sonic to the mythical realm of King Arthur, but it seems the fabled monarch has somehow been corrupted and now rules the land as the tyranical Black Knight.”
- storybook telling like Secret Rings
- “As Sonic runs along, a simple flick of the Wii remote will execute a basic slash, which is enough to dispatch most low-level grunts.”
- thrust, parry, and buzz-saw-like moves for the sword
- “During our demo, we saw the hedgehog leap from a high precipice, then thrust the blade into a wall to slow his decent, sparks flying impressively as steel cut through brick.”
- “Combat is integrated in such a way that most of the time you can slice through any who stand in your path without even slowing down.”
- Control Sonic via joystick
- “Our hero begins his quest as a mere knave. Only by becoming a full-fledged knight will he have any hope of defeating King Arthur.”
- “his sword, a talking blade named Calibur, serves as a mentor.”
- “If you help civilian townfolk in need of assistance, you’ll earn points toward knighthood. If you smite one of those civilians, your reputation will take a hit.”
- “At the end of each stage, the game tallies your good and not-so-good deeds and updates your rank accordingly.”
- “Sonic can aquire everything from gauntlets to magical tomes to new swords, and when equipped, each article bestows him with a unique benefit.”
- “On the audio side, veteran composer Jen Senoue is taking a smiliar approach, injecting familiar Sonic themes with a Celtic flavor.”
- Magic used to give Sonic extra powers. It looks as if Choas float around Sonic when magic is used
- 200 items, some can be combined with others
- go online to trade items
- Rings no longer appear in computer monitors, but instead, sacks
- skill system from Secret Rings returns, but it will not interrupt the gameplay
- mission structure returns
- “Each stage has multiple branching paths and searching for townsfolk and treasure chests provides an element of exploration that recalls Sonic’s early Genesis days.”
- “The camera will occasionally pan to a side-scrolling perspective for a quick dose of classic 2-D action.”
- “And there will be no dinosaur eggs!”
- ”When people see that Sonic is wielding a sword, they’ll probably have certain expectations of the multiplayer mode. And all I can say is that we’re thinking along those same lines.”
- “Just as they subbed in for such characters as Ali Baba and Aladdin in Sonic and the Secret Rings, a number of familiar faces will assume Arthurian personas in SBK.”
- “This time, however, some of Sonic’s friends will be playable. Each hero will boast unique abilities, and though the team isn’t ready to divulge the full cast just yet, we do know the identities of two playable comrades: Knuckles, who brandishes two swords at once, and Shadow.”
- there will be other characters, but you don’t have to play as them if you don’t want
- “While the old gauges from Secret Rings are gone, a new special gauge will “bestow him with similarly impressive powers. The meter fills gradually whenever Sonic vanquishes an enemy or snags a purple elemental, and when it reaches a certain point you can unleash a powerful combination attack capable of tearing through multiple foes in quick succession. You simply press the B button to lock onto the nearest enemy, flick the remote to strike him down, then press B again to move onto the next unfortunate soul. If you chain together enough smitings before the gauge is depleted, Sonic will receive a speed burst at the end of the string.”
- “the team behind Sonic and the Black Knight is keenly aware of the franchise’s past missteps, and their enthusiasm for doing right by the series is infections.”Link and Link
This new exclusive Sonic game for the Wii looks better in terms of info about the game and how the graphics look when compared to Sonic Unleashed. It seems that Sega is really taking this game to heart and trying there best to improve on the Sonic and the Secret Rings formula. I'm hoping it controls better than 'Rings' also.

The Conduit E3 video blowout
I'm absolutely loving those control options! That might be the most comprehensive control scheme ever in a console game. PC FPS games have been doing that for a while now but the Wii remote makes for such freedom of movement & pointing that when you add the PC-like control options to the mix it just makes this game even more attractive. Speaking of that, the game is looking awesome despite it having over half a year of development time to go.

Dead Rising coming to Wii

I've seen the Xbox 360 game and this for the Wii looks almost exactly the same, minus some shadows and of course the HD. Also if you notice that the control looks very similar to Resident Evil 4 on the Wii as well. All good news in my book.
So my only question is that if Capcom can get Dead Rising to run on the Wii with all those Zombies with all that detail, what is stopping them from bringing Resident Evil 5 over as well?

The Conduit new gameplay video/screens

If you compare the new screens (like the first shown here) with the older screens of The Conduit, you can see that Normal Mapping is now fully implemented and it makes the enemies look way better than shown before. Like I said in a previous post, the textures needed work and it looks like they've fixed that problem and now the game looks extremely good. Whats great is that they still have about 8 months of development time to go (!) so the game will continue to improve graphically as we near the release date early next year. Hyped?
