The Last Story - new screens

This game is already my most anticipated of 2011, with Zelda a close second. The reason? It looks to have not only a unique fighting system but also the art style/graphics are probably second to none on the Wii. Nice to see the effort being put into this one.

Goldeneye 007 - new screens

I've seen the single player portion of this game in videos already so I know that this game just looks better in motion. Proper screens of Wii games are always going to look low res and jaggy on a PC monitor but you get the idea that they are at least trying to get some decent looking levels and backdrops for this Wii-make. I plan on playing this to go along with COD: Black Ops and Conduit 2; it's nice that this competition of "No, we have the best FPS on the Wii this year" will only make the gamers happy in the end. This is how 2007 should have been like!

Epic Mickey - opening cinematic

Wow, the story actually looks very interesting and well thought out. I'm a big fan of Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass so this does intrigue me quite a bit. I'm hopes for this game just got bigger even though I haven't seen any new gameplay.

NBA JAM Wii - developer interview

I'm really liking that they took so much advice from Mark Turmell. It just wouldn't be NBA JAM without that guy. I'm also happy to hear that the gesture controls are not just an after thought put into this game in the last second. October 5th can't come soon enough!

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 - Developer Interview

The news...slow it is...

From this video you can get an idea of what type of gameplay to expect from the Wii version of the game. I've posted screens of the Wii version before and they didn't look that much worse than what this video is showing. I'm interested in what way they are going to be taking this story with Starkiller also.

Call of Duty: Black Ops - Multiplayer Trailer Analysis

While this is obviously not the Wii version of the game, we can expect it to be almost identical in terms of content as promised by Treyarch. After the great job they did on porting MW1 over to the Wii, I'm really excited to see how they do with a fresh start on Black Ops.

Goldeneye 007 with Golden Classic controller bundle confirmed

Activision has made all our previous speculation and rumor come true with the confirmed announcement that Goldeneye 007 will come with a bundled golden classic controller. The gold color looks to be something for a collector since we already have the regular Classic controller and also the black/white Classic Pro. Hey it works for Zelda right?

Tuesday, August 10, 2010

The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest - new video

This game looks entertaining but also seems to look like it will be a waggle fest. Every control they list in this video seems to have some kind of motion attached with it. Motion control well implemented works pretty good but Motions for everything doesn't. We'll see how this game turns out when it's released later on this year.

Sonic Colors - Rings Trailer

Wow, that song makes me feel like it's 1999 again and Pop Punk is all that's popular on the radio....As for the game itself, it's nice to see a gameplay trailer that is not an off-screen demo from E3. The game looks fun and fast, just like a Sonic game should look. I'm looking forward to seeing more soon.

The Angry Video Game Nerd - Zelda II

This is a great edition of the long time show. Some people love Zelda II while others don't even consider it a real Zelda game. Go figure. Enjoy!

Have a great weekend

Goldeneye 007 - remake or retelling?

I like the way he explained this. They are not trying to hide the fact that they cannot re-create Rare's game level for level but they can if it was in the movie. So in that sense I think they are doing a good job. I can't wait to see more soon.

Metroid Other M - Beam and Gameplay analysis

From just watching more video on this game it looks more and more like a traditional Metroid game with a new twist. I'm really excited to see how the final product turns out. So far so great.

Mortal Kombat's top ten fatalities

I'm a MK fan since the first game and this video brings back a lot of memories to say the least. I don't think anyone will argue with #1 on the list. Take a trip down Fatality lane with this one.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 - Wii screens

The original game was a PS2 port with Wii controls, so it's nice that the sequel will not even be on the PS2 so the Wii can have it's own unique version all to it's self. I'm liking how it looks so far, what do you think?

Metroid Other M - even more footage

As the release gets closer so does us getting more videos/previews of the game. The more I see of this the more it shows how epic it's going to be. I can't wait!

Metroid Other M - Story Trailer (lots of new footage)

This game continues to look fantastic and the gameplay looks extremely fun also. Only 1 more month and you'll be experiencing this for yourself. I'm happy with the new direction for Metroid; I was starting to think that we would never get Samus out of first person.

Tuesday, July 27, 2010

Goldeneye 007 - Multiplayer Video

This looks like one of the areas of the Library level from the first game. I'm liking how fun this looks to play and I'm really happy for all the control options to keep everyone happy.

Goldeneye 007 - Dam level playthrough

If you didn't get a chance to see this over the weekend, here is another chance. After watching this play-through I am a lot more confident that this game will be worth buying when it's released this November. It looks like a cross between the original Goldeneye with some Call of Duty mixed in for good measure. I like how you still can be stealthy if you want also. Hopefully we'll get to see more soon.

Goldeneye 007 - developer interview

I guess we'll all find out if split-screen multiplayer still has it where it counts....fun. I remember back in the day that people were critical of the Gamecube for only having split-screen and no online and now it's has been the other way around for a lot of Wii's FPS games this generation. You people just want everything don't you? lol.

Batman: The Brave and the Bold - new trailer

This game looks amazing. It really looks like you are playing the cartoon right in front of you. I'm really excited to play this one soon.

Wednesday, July 21, 2010

Guitar Hero:Warriors of Rock is all about Rush's 2112

I wouldn't normally be interested in a Guitar Hero game, but since I'm a big Rush fan this actually looks interesting. Having a video game story be based on a classic album is a cool idea and makes me wonder how it will progress throughout the game.

Tuesday, July 20, 2010

Goldeneye 007 - updated trailer

Some new locations and cutting out the interview with those gamers about the first game. From all the interviews and previews, I'm starting to really look forward to this version of Goldeneye.

Monday, July 19, 2010

Retro City Rampage - new screens

Ever wonder what Grand Theft Auto would be like on the NES? Well look no further. This game was originally a Grand Theft Auto III port to the NES made by an Indie developer. Looks like it was such a success that Vblank took it upon themselves to bring a version similar to WiiWare this fall. I'm looking forward to it!

Friday, July 16, 2010

Conduit 2 - new footage

This game does seem to look a lot better than the first in many ways. Textures, Art/Level design and even the control seem to be improved. It's too bad High Voltage had to make such an inferior game with The Conduit 1 but I guess it was needed for them to "learn". Can you imagine a developer like Epic games that actually believed in the Wii and made some kind of new Unreal Tournament for it? Oh well, slim pickings is slim pickings I guess. This year however will be a good year for FPS fans on the Wii.

Thursday, July 15, 2010

NBA JAM Wii - new screens

Well the guys at EA are pretty fast I must say in getting Lebron James into that Heat uniform. I can't believe that we now have to wait until October for this game when it was supposed to be released in April/May of this year originally.

Wednesday, July 14, 2010

Tournament of Legends - video review

Behold mortals, a game that was predestined to fail before it was created. What was High Voltage thinking with this one? When this was Gladiator A.D. I was actually excited for it because they were doing some cool things with the control and also making it extremely gory and realistic. This generic shadow of it's former self is probably not even worth the $29.99 price and better off as a WiiWare game.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare: Reflex - The best FPS on Wii so far

CODMWR on the Wii is the most in-depth and satisfying FPS on the Wii thus far. It has the most options, rewards and best control as well. If you haven't had the chance to play this game on the Wii and are a Wii owner, you need to pick this up as soon as possible. I'm telling you this now almost 9 months after the release of this game because it has gone on to sell 1.1 million copies with a single TV ad or any marketing by Activision at all. It is quite an amazing feat if you ask me and the game deserves it.

Go play The Conduit after playing MWR on Wii and you'll see a huge difference in the overall feeling of the control. I didn't think it would be different since The Conduit is fully customizable, but when you play The Conduit you'll notice that you get this uneven feeling kind of like you are trying to balance on a bowling ball(go play both first before asking what I mean)where as in MWR you feel like the Wii remote and nunchuk are more like your hands. I still don't understand why The Conduit had to be so flimsy in the movement but High Voltage better follow the example Treyarch has done with MWR.

So like I said before, go buy this game if you haven't already and you won't be sorry.

Lost in Shadow - gameplay video

Everyone that has played this game at E3 has been pretty positive about it. For me, I'm not sure still. Hopefully it will have some cool gameplay that keeps it from being too repetitive and locations that really peak my interest. I'll have to play it or read the reviews/previews before it comes out to be certain.

The Last Story - debut trailer!

This looks amazing. Final Fantasy meets Stealth/Melee/RPG combat all in one package. Not only does this look like it might take the "best graphics on Wii" nod but it also looks like the gameplay is going to be amazing as well. With the creator of Final Fantasy behind this game you can bet that this will have an epic and well thought out story too. You RPG haters out there, even you have to get just a tad excited for this one.....right?

Wednesday, July 07, 2010

Metroid Other M - develper interview (lots of new footage)

Don't worry if you can't understand them and just enjoy all the new footage of the game in action. This is definitely one of the best looking game on the Wii yet.

Tuesday, July 06, 2010

NBA JAM Wii - boss battle video

I think it's awesome that this game will actually have boss battles! It makes sense too, if you want to unlock that character you should have to beat them yourself ala Smash Bros. I can't wait to play this game.

Wii Party - Japanese overview

You have to wonder; is Nintendo ever going to stop making these kind of games? Not that they are extremely bad or anything but I just thought that Wii Sports Resort was going to be enough until the next console. Maybe these games just aren't for me and better suited for the "expanded" audience. I do like the Wii sports series don't get me wrong, but more of the same is not what I was expecting.

Friday, July 02, 2010

Goldeneye Wii - developer interview

Lots of people don't like the direction that this game is heading, but I think you guys should at the very least give it a chance. I think it shows promise as a good FPS, just don't expect it to be exactly like the original game so you won't be disappointed.

Thursday, July 01, 2010

Jett Rocket - intro video

Feast your eyes and the best looking WiiWare game up until this point. It seems to be using the same or similar engine to Super Mario Galaxy, which is amazing since it's only a 40 mb game. I've seen some other videos of the game and if you are wondering if this island is only area, it's not. Amazing what they accomplished with so little space! The game is only 1,000 Wii points so go download it now.

Wednesday, June 30, 2010

Sonic Colors - new screens

From all the footage and gameplay impressions from E3, it seems that Sonic Colors plays a lot like Sonic Unleashed only without the Wolf/Sonic parts (which is a good thing). Hopefully this is a good Sonic game without any "yeah but this one thing is holding it back" parts in it. Wishful thinking I know since Sonic can't seem to catch a break these days.

Sin and Punishment: Star Successor - video review

I've been playing the PAL version of this game since May, and this review is pretty much dead on. It's a really good game even though there are some strange looking character designs. The controls are easy and the game is very challenging. You should check it out for yourself.

Monday, June 28, 2010

Metroid Other M - gameplay video

Not much has been said about Metroid Other M, only a few previews but nothing big. From the videos I've seen, it looks like an excellent game. Maybe that is why we haven't heard much about it since if it was terrible I'm sure their would be haters all over the place complaining about it. Only a two more months until we can see for ourselves.

Friday, June 25, 2010

Donkey Kong Country Returns - interview

I liked how they mention that they played the original 3 games over and over again to make sure the feel of those games was kept intact. I'm really looking forward to this game in November.

Thursday, June 24, 2010

The Conduit 2 - interview and gameplay video

This game looks vastly improved over the original in many ways. The graphics seem to be much more detailed with a better art design and style. I like that they added the "down the sights" view and the ability to run. I didn't think I would be interested in a sequel to the original since the it was just a bland game, but so far this is changing my mind.

3DS more powerful than Wii?

(3DS is rendering the above trailer in real-time)

In technical terms, no the 3DS is not more powerful than the Wii. What about these amazing graphics it's able to produce seemingly so easily compared to the Wii? Well it was revealed that the 3DS is using a new graphics card called the PICA200 which is using a newer form of OpenGL ES 1.1 being used with mobile devices. What this graphics card can do is use a lot of the same graphically effects of the next-gen consoles with very little power consumption. The PICA200 GPU has "fixed" shaders/normal mapping already built inside so the developer just needs to program what shader they want to use and it will do it on the fly.

With the Wii and Gamecube, Nintendo made them with the developer in mind as well. The TEV was made to give the developer more flexibility to create there own kind of graphics the way they wanted. They could develop their own shading and mapping techniques to really made unique looking games. This was demonstrated much better in the Gamecube's life span since developers in this generation don't seem to care to try to make a game on the Wii that really uses it's power to the full. This is why we still continue to see flat, plain looking games to this day. The Wii can do the shaders and Normal Mapping that we are seeing but it is too late in the lifespan of the Wii for the majority of game developers to give a rat's ass about what it can do and just make games designed to give them a quick buck instead.

Why didn't Nintendo incorporate something like the PICA200 GPU in the Wii instead of the TEV? Well, simply the technology wasn't ready yet by the time the Wii was released. The 3DS graphics card is made to make lazy developers more excited to make games that have great graphics since the system will pretty much do the job for them. It's a shame that this is what game development has come to but at the same time it's good that Nintendo didn't sit back and do nothing to address the problem that has been going on for 4 years on the Wii. I look for Nintendo's next console to have a similar graphics card on a larger scale.

Sonic Colors - E3 gameplay

I think this game looks fantastic graphically for the Wii. Also from what I've been hearing from people that played the game, it seems like it's really fun to top it off. Anyone here that was at the show play this game? Let me know in the comment section.

Epic Mickey - demo walkthrough

I really like the makeover that this game has received since it's original incarnation was shown last year. The style is exactly how you'd imagine a dark Disney world with Mickey as the star. I'm looking forward to this one!

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword - full trailer

Am I the only one that actually likes the look of this game? I'm hearing a lot of complaining about how it's too colorful or that Nintendo should have chosen to go one direction with it and not try to combine the WW look with the TP look. I think it looks just fine the way it is. Besides, they only showed one area of the game and on top of that it's not coming out until next year. Give it a chance.

Donkey Kong Country Returns - trailer

I'm really looking forward to this one! Takes me back to 1994 all over again; it should be a nice holiday for Wii owners.

Wednesday, June 16, 2010

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword - new screens

Amazing style and art direction. Taking the best thing about Wind Waker's graphics to a whole new level. Too bad it's not coming out until next year, even though I'm not really going to be worried about with all these other awesome games to play until that time. Oh yeah and I just might have to check out that 3DS thing too (it looks amazing).

Tuesday, June 15, 2010

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

I think it's a great choice by Nintendo to go with the cel-shaded looks with the adult Link! The graphics from Wind Waker still look great today, and in my opinion Twilight Princess hasn't aged very well. I'm happy.

With this announced one day before Nintendo's E3 presentation, it makes me think that Nintendo themselves may have this planned for the Wii as well. There was that patent filed a few months ago from Nintendo that showed them incorporating more gyroscopes into a controller that looked just like a normal Wii remote; so we'll see more tomorrow. This looks like a natural progression of the Wii remote design, but of course I'm more excited at what else they are going to unveil. This should be a huge show!

Xenoblade - 2 hours of gameplay!

If you don't want some of the game spoiled then don't watch too much of this video. Granted it's from the Japanese version so you aren't going to understand a lot, but you will see more of the areas in the game. This JRPG looks so epic and enormous, it's really rare to see games like this anymore or at all.

I hope you all have a great weekend. Enjoy

Wednesday, June 09, 2010

Xenoblade - new gameplay video

Amazing sense of scope, depth and size. You really get the sense that you are in a huge world, all without a lot of loading screens. Also the music....the music is a work of art. You guys should go check out the music samples on YouTube to really appreciate this for yourself.

Tuesday, June 08, 2010

Super Mario Galaxy 2 - 99 lives trick

You knew that Nintendo had to put this in there. I'm not sure if having 99 lives is really necessary since every time you go back to boot the game up you start with 4 lives.

New Nintendo promo video

I haven't seen Nintendo do a video like this for one of it's systems since the Gamecube. It seems that Nintendo is trying to focus their attention back to the gamer and less on the non-gamer.

Xenoblade - Abyss trailer

This game looks a bit less impressive graphically than The Last Story but the game itself might be very good. A lot of effort seems to be going into to this.

The Last Story - new scans

(Click for larger image)

This game looks fantastic, this all I can say about it really. The game is going to have a lot of attention to detail from what I can see.

Batman: The Brave and the Bold - debut trailer

From that guys that brought us A Boy and His Blob bring us a new Batman game. I'm really the liking the style of this as we haven't seen "this" Batman for quite sometime. This looks like a good old fashion co-op beat'em up......and I like those.

Tetris Pary Deluxe - video review

Since when are we ever truly tired of Tetris? The first Tetris Party was a fantastic game and any kind of sequel or extension of that can only be a good thing. I'm looking forward to this one.
