New screens for Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles

Link

These screens were taken from recent scans and are now in better quality. RE:UC is really shaping up to be one of the Wii's best looking games. Can you pick out the screen shown here that appears to be using Normal Mapping?

The only screenshot that appears to perhaps be using normal mapping is the last one but I can't really tell. Then again, I'm not entirely sure what it is so that may hurt my chances with guessing.

Yep you got it. It has not been confirmed from Capcom that this game uses Normal Mapping, but it looks really obvious to me after looking at that crab. The exact same effect is used on the walls in games like Prey, Quake 4,Oblivion and Bioshock (basically all Next Gen games)where the organic walls reflect light and appear to have alot of that "plastic" or "real" look to them. That is the exact look that the Crab has in those screens, its not Bump Mapping since we know that Bump Mapping does not make characters that have that "Solid Plastic look". Mario Galaxy does not have Normal Mapping, but it looks awesome because of the advanced Bump Mapping it is using and fur shading. You can see the difference if you examine both of these techniques closely. Mario Galaxy is not a realistic game so it doesn't need to use Normal Mapping to look awesome.
