"Possession" coming to Revolution

Published by Blitz Games, Possession will be released on the Nintendo Revolution, PC, Xbox360 and PS3. Its being developed on the "flame" game engine and will feature online play for all versions. Up to seven others can join up for battle in online play. The game is an action RTS and lets you pick from Humans or Zombies as playable characters. Users can fight as a Warlord and lead an army of Zombies in a bid to rule the planet, or join the humans in stopping the Zombies. At last years E3 the game showed a lot of promise due to the realism and real-time skin degradation in the Zombies. No release date has been set, but as soon as more news comes I will post it.

Japanese Analysts talk Revolution

Speaking to Japanese Publication Famitsu, industry analysts from the western side of the Pacific recently made a number of predictions regarding the next generation of game consoles.

Daiwa Institute of Research Senior Analyst Eiji Maeda first discussed the price points of the two unreleased next-generation machines--the Sony PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Revolution--predicting that Sony's next console would be priced in the 40,000 yen ($343) range at the lowest, with Nintendo's Revolution console priced around 30,000 yen ($257) at its highest.

Continuing with Revolution discussion, IT Journalist Hiroshige Gotoh touched on why he thought the Revolution might succeed in the next-generation console war. He explained that the system could still match up to its higher-spec competitors thanks to its innovation and unique controller, analogous to how the DS has been outselling the PSP.In regards to Revolution's launch date, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata already announced that the console needs to be released in America by Thanksgiving to take advantage of the holiday shopping season, but Maeda predicted that the machine could launch in Japan as early as June of this year. He also mentioned that the Revolution would still have a larger game line-up than the PlayStation 3, even if released that soon.

If the trend continues with Revolution outselling the PS3 just like the DS and PSP, then Nintendo is going to be very successful with their new system even if its not outselling it here in the U.S.

Revolution able to run Unreal 3 engine?

Midway has posted a job listing for a new first person shooter using the Unreal 3 engine for ALL next generation consoles.

Here is the link

Unless this is a mistake in printing, it looks like the Revolution will have enough power (or tricks) to run extremely impressive games. Gears of War uses the Unreal 3 engine and it has arguably the best graphics yet seen in a videogame. Good news for Revolution fans

"Not to worry" about Revolution's graphics

IGN Revolution podcast

Listen to the new Ign Revolution podcast it is 40 minutes long but about half way through Matt says he was discussing his concerns about the power of the Revolution and his worries that Nintendo made an underpowered machine and he was talking about how he was telling this to some developers making a game for the Revolution. The developers told Matt not to worry and that the game they were working on was going to look “FABULOUS AND GORGEOUS AND YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE IT.” He said that these people were “close” to Retro Studios, so this could very well been Metroid Prime 3. Awesome

So it is nice to hear from a developer that the Revolution's graphics will be very good and that we shouldn't be worrying about them. I'm prepared to be blown away this E3, you?

Revolution start-up video(fake)

Fake Revolution start-up menu video

It says E3 '05 at the bottom and has Zelda: Twilight Princess as one of the games in the menu, but the chances of this being real and Nintendo leaking this are slim to none.

Sonic Riders Revolution sequel?

Sonic Riders Producer Takashi Yuda has stated in the Vol.201 of Nintendo Power about a sequel, "To be honest, my knowledge about the technology of Revolution is not adequate to provide my deep thoughts, but I feel it could potentially take Sonic Riders to the next dimension based upon the information I currently have."

Who cares what 3D Realms says anyway? The guy hasn't even touched the controller and he suffers from "Gamecube is kiddy" sickness. Almost all developers are thinking the same thing, that they can realize there games in ways not possible before on other systems. Sonic would be a very good example of this.

Sunder: Land of Divide an idea for a Revolution game

This is a quote from the kotaku site concering this supposed game:

"I received an email tonight from one of the guys behind the whole Sunder game for the Revolution. Sunder, it turns out, is both a fake and not a fake. It’s a fake in the sense that it’s not actually an approved Revolution game, but it’s not a fake in the sense that it is a concept for a game that the developers hope to one day get on a Revolution.
The game is being created by a company called LifeSpark Studios which was started by Derek Sarbou and Kenton Bailey. Sunder, and these “leaks”, were apparently there way of pitching the game."

*Rumor* Is this a Revolution game?

Go here for details: Kotaku site

Here is a quote from it:

"We received a mysterious (and anonymous) email late Friday which had what appears to be details from a yet to be announced Revolution title.
The game appears to be called Sunder: Land of Divide and looks to be some sort of first- or third-person shooter.
Instead of just bland screenshots and some worthless plot descriptions, this sheet includes detailed specs on a variety of interesting weapons and how those weapons are used with the Revolution’s new remote controller."

If you look at the bottom left of the picture the developer is blurred out but it does say "Studios" under it. Could it be Retro Studios? Is it a fake? Who really knows these days. If you look at how detailed the pics of the diagrams are, it looks pretty convincing. Take it for what it is, just a rumor and nothing more for now.

Thanks to Rawmeatcowboy for finding this story

*CONCEPT* Nintendo RS?

Who knows what Nintendo's final choice will be for the name of the Revolution but Nintendo RS would make it fit well with the Nintendo DS wouldn't it? Let me know what you think.

*RUMOR* Sega making exclusive Sonic game for Revolution?

Quote from: ign revolution

"Sources close to SEGA have told IGN Revolution that the developer is working on a new entry into the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise for Nintendo's next generation console. The title, purportedly developed by a "top-tier" SEGA team led by Yuji Naka, will not be a port of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 game tentatively dubbed "Sonic the Hedgehog [next gen]." Instead, say insiders, it is an entirely original effort designed from the ground up to take advantage of Revolution's unique controller. No further details are available at this time.
While it's easy to shrug this news off as a no-brainer, it is nevertheless an important development because it suggests that powerhouse publishers are thinking about ways to make innovative games on Nintendo's upcoming platform rather than just porting over dumbed down versions of their Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 projects. Furthermore, one source we spoke with alleged that they have known about a Revolution Sonic the Hedgehog game for at least two months, which indicates that it isn't a freshly hatched concept. We're keeping our fingers crossed that something might show at E3 2006, which explodes this May in Los Angeles.
More than a decade ago, SEGA and Nintendo were big rivals, but in recent times the companies have enjoyed a fruitful partnership. Sonic Team chose to make GameCube the official home of its hedgehog mascot, releasing ports of its hit Dreamcast titles as well as wholly original Sonic efforts for the system. Meanwhile, Nintendo contracted SEGA developers like Amusement Vision to co-create GCN efforts such as F-Zero GX. The Big N's own Shigeru Miyamoto even entertained the idea of a mascot cross-over, in which Sonic could partner or square off against stars including Mario or Luigi. It is, therefore, not surprising that SEGA would continue to throw extra support Nintendo's way.
When contacted, SEGA would not confirm that such a project is underway.
"SEGA has not announced its official plans to support Revolution," a spokesperson for the company told us. "We are committed to creating great game content for all viable platforms, so when Revolution rolls out, it would be a safe bet to assume that we will be there."
IGN Revolution reminds readers that this information could not yet be substantiated and therefore should not be taken as an official confirmation.
We'll update with more on the story as information becomes available."

Great news for sure and I not surprised that SEGA is going to support the Revolution. I just hope that they give it more titles than just Sonic, which they should.

*FAKE?* Revolution option menu screen?

This pic was posted by the infamous Osoko Tanaka. You can see that it was taken from a tv screen with the Nintendo and Wifi logo's as well. Interesting for sure; most likely fake, but I'm sure you already made your mind up on that one.

Capcom developer has Revolution title in the works

This is a translation but you can still make out the important details:

Resident Evil DS producer Minoru Nakai on Nintendo's next-gen machine - will we see Revolution Resi someday? 12:00 Minoru Nakai, producer of the forthcoming Resident Evil remake for Nintendo's DS, has revealed that he's currently involved with a project for the Revolution at Capcom. Speaking to website Jeux-France.com, Nakai let slip that while the unannounced game will not be a Resident Evil title, the experience his team gains with the machine could pave the wave for a new entry in the Resi series. What's more, the Revolution's unique controller could create an evolutionary leap in the series as big as the one on display in Resi 4. "Even if the playability of Resident Evil 4 thus remains very led to my taste", Nakai explained (via Google translator, just in case you're wondering), "we would clearly like to use the potential of the [Revolution controller], because the players could end up wearying themselves of this style of gameplay." However, the producer cautioned that "it would be perhaps more judicious to develop a game other than Resident Evil on Nintendo Revolution, before attacking this series, and this, to familiarize myself more with this new concept, in order to better benefit from the potential of the [controller] thereafter. We [are working] there in this moment..." So, Nakai seems impressed enough with Nintendo's offering to consider it might provide the perfect match for taking the Resi franchise into new, unchartered waters. It would seem that Capcom's got no plans to bring the series to the next-gen console just yet though - does this mean we can wave goodbye to hopes of Resident Evil 5 on the Revolution afterall?

This DOES NOT say that Resident Evil 5 will not be coming to the Revolution, they do say that they would like to do something else first. Could we be seeing another exclusive Resident Evil for Nintendo in the future, one that takes special advantage of the Revolution controller? That would be a wise move in my mind.

Revolution Report interviews ATI on Hollywood GPU

You can read the full interview here: http://www.revolutionreport.com/articles/read/254

Even ATI seems to think that the Revolution's specs won't matter. What does this mean? It means that Nintendo is still definitely hiding something special about the Revolution and we are now really close to finding out what it is.

Nintendo of Europe gives advance warning about Revolution

NINTENDO'S NEXT CONSOLE: On an as-yet-unannounced date in 2006 Nintendo will launch its next home console, code-named 'Revolution' - which will truly spark a revolution in gaming. We've already been given a sneak peek at its potential with the revelation of the groundbreaking one-handed controller with motion-sensitive technology. We already know that Revolution will let you play all your Nintendo GameCube titles and also a back catalogue of downloadable Nintendo classics. But if you think that's all there is to know about Revolution, think again... 2006 is going to be very interesting indeed.

NINTENDO OF EUROPE

This sounds like a lot more than just some additional features. Its sounds like we really have not yet seen the "real" Revolution secret.
