Wii played in downtown Chile

Link

This looks like a lot of fun, and a good way to advertise the Wii (even if thats not what this guy was shooting for). My good friend "Salot" has access to a Projector and sometimes he hooks it up to the Wii and just plays games projected against buildings. He's been thinking about putting a video up on YouTube showing this.... but I'm still waiting!

Ninja Reflex Trailer

This game actually looks fun, not to mention the graphics are beautiful also. Yet another game that may sell just based on the wacky mini-games. This one may be worth it however.

*Rumor* Kingdom Hearts 3 to be Wii exclusive?

Note: The above image is fan made

A fan has posted information on the N4G forums saying that SquareEnix will be releasing Kingdom Hearts 3 exclusively for the Wii this winter according to the latest March 2008 Nintendo Power. This is not confirmed yet since no one has seen the issue or seen any scans. However, the last Nintendo Power did say that in the next month's issue they would reveal a huge exclusive RPG for the Wii.....

Here is the link to the information

Super Smash Bros. Brawl video special

A long overview of the new characters that we will be playing with in just a short month. This game is going to be a keeper to say the least.

Fatal Frame IV revealed for Wii

A portion of IGN's preview:

"Fatal Frame has found its home on PS2 for three iterations now, and each one has had a beautiful (though very haunting) graphical presentation. As long as Suda and the gang put as much effort into Fatal Frame 4 as they did its predecessors, you'll be playing one of the best looking games on the system to date. Oh, and we shouldn't even have to mention how big of a win this is for Nintendo, as this franchise has always been a PS2 product, with Xbox joining the exclusive invite list over the last few years. It's now Wii, and from what it looks like, Wii only."

Link

The Wii has some nice "M" rated content starting to build up with this and No More Heroes that was just released a week ago, the Wii is going to end up having enough "hardcore" to go along with the "casualcore". I'm really curious though as to how it will control; it should be really interesting to say the least.

No More Heroes Gametrailers Review

Pretty good score I must say, and about where I expected for such a stylistic approach. You can't help but want this game the more you see it in action. Great stuff.

The release date is tomorrow and the street date is Wednesday. I came across these screens today and for the most part they're new, so enjoy these as we wait for just a couple more days to play this game. It's all about the style.....

The Wii's Full Potential = 3D

Johnny Chung Lee, now famous for his Wii remote 3D-Head Tracking program has given an interview with Gameinformer; in it he talks of the future potential of the Wii and it's games and how 3D can truly come to the masses pretty easily with some effort from developers. Some developers that Johnny knows are already seriously considering using this for their Wii games! Read a portion of the interview below:

"GI: These next few questions are related to your head-tracking video. Do you think that kind of tracking would be especially difficult to implement in a game? It seems as though it might be taxing once applied to a 3D world.

Lee: From a pure technical standpoint, it’s trivial. My code uses Direct X and there are maybe only 100 lines of code to make that work. Assuming that the game consoles have the capability of doing that type of rendering—because it’s a slightly different type of rendering to make it look like it’s really 3D; you can move the camera around, but that’s not quite what I’m doing—if they’re willing to and they have the software code to do that and they’re willing to bundle some hardware, like IR glasses, then it’s trivial for them to make a game. Whether or not it’s perhaps taxing as a game player to use it for a long time, I’m not entirely sure yet. There seems to be a lot of enthusiasm around making games that get people moving around and getting involved in the experience, so it might be tiring but that might be a good aspect of playing the game.

It’s up to the developer also to determine how to apply this technique. In software, they can apply a scaler, and small movements translate to big movements in a game, so they can choose or leave it up to player preference. So it’s essentially head-motion sensitivity that you would set. From a technical standpoint, it would be easy to make a game, but it’s up to the developers to use it properly.

GI: Does the head tracking only work in first-person experiences, or would it be effective in a StarFox type game or in God of War-like gameplay?

Lee: I think it’s most compelling in a first-person point of view, but it’s still very useful for third person or other games—even in a side-scrolling platforming game. What it does is give you motion parallax, which is the technical term, which is essentially the way objects occlude with each other when you move your head. So it gives you a better sense of space, which any game that has space involved in it could probably benefit from a head-tracking system.
GI: Do you think 3-dimensional technology is the next step in entertainment? It seems like it’s something that people revisit every so often, but it hasn’t been used in any widely successful applications.

Lee: I think a lot of people are really interested in trying to bring realistic 3D experiences into the home, because it’s sort of the next step beyond television. I think where it’s been sort of a difficult or an uphill battle—or even a failure—in the past is because usually it requires specialized hardware that’s not in everyone’s home already. The nice thing about the Wii is that it’s already in 13-million homes, at least, so most of the hardware is there to do this.

I’ve heard from some technical developers that this is re-exciting the 3D-technology community, and even people who are working on 3D shutter glasses are wondering if they can make them for the Wii Remote or the Nintendo Wii console. That’s entirely speculation at the moment, but essentially it’s a chicken and the egg problem. If you can get the hardware in the homes to do this, then you can make content for it. Hopefully, I think it’ll come. It’ll be up to how well people can adopt the technology if it’s successful or not."

Read the full interview here

The possibilities are so amazing its hard to fathom being able to play a game in full 3D and have motion control to go along with it. Also, being able to adjust the sensitivity of the head tracking movement in relation to the camera really gives you a great sense freedom. This is absolutely amazing stuff!

Factor 5 Offically Developing For Wii - True Graphics power of the Wii to finally be shown

Link

"The maker of the hit GameCube series Rogue Squadron is back. In a phone conversation with IGN Wii this morning, company president Julian Eggebrecht confirmed that the studio is underway with at least one all-new Wii project -- and it's not a Virtual Console game. Beyond that confirmation, Eggebrecht was mum, but he did note that the new title would not simply re-use old Rogue Squadron tech; whatever it is, significantly updated or even completely new tech has been developed to help accommodate it."

The above screens are a reminder of the incredible work Factor 5 did on the Gamecube in terms of graphics. Now that they have confirmed Wii support, one can only imagine how much improved their new games will look on the Wii.

Are you a non-believer? Take a look at some previous articles I've posted on the Wii's graphics power:

Sign the Bionic Commando Wii Petition

Capcom has said that it would consider putting Bionic Commando on the Wii if there was enough interest shown. Here is your chance to make yourself known and get this game on the Wii. There is already over 5 thousand signatures after only 1 day of the petition, lets keep it going.

Alone In The Dark: Near Death Wii Screens

The game is looking promising, I don't currently know if this build of the game is exclusive to Wii or if it is another PS2 port. If someone knows otherwise please let me know.

Nyko Wireless Nunchuck Video

This is a short video but it gives you a good idea of what to expect from how it will look in your hands. I'm excited for this since it will really help with games like Dragon Ball Z that require a lot of wild movements with your arms.

*Rumor* Leon S.Kennedy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl?!

Our friend Paul Mercier has been credited with doing the voice of Resident Evil 4's Leon Scott Kennedy for Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the IMDB (Internet Movie Database). This is just a rumor and there is no way of knowing if this is true or not because it turns out that users can "adjust" these lists for actors. It is possible that this is just a hopeful fan, but there is no way to know this for sure. Only a month to find out!

Check out the links below:

New Tales of Symphonia: Knights of Ratatosk screens

The style is looking very good and more mature than the first game. I'm sure this will be a 60 hour+ RPG which is something that hasn't been done yet on the Wii.

House of the Dead 2&3 Return Wii Trailer

You should be able to turn the cursor off just like Ghost Squad to give the game that "light-gun" feel. I'm looking forward to this because House of the Dead was just screaming to be done on the Wii and even though it is not a new game in the series, it is still 2 great games for a cheap price.

One Piece Unlimited Adventure gameplay clips

The animation and cell-shading all look good, but how does the game control and feel with Wii controls? I guess we'll find out shortly since it's due out this month. Any fans of the series here?

Futurama favorite moments (end of the year fun)

Be sure to turn the volume down
because the videos start with it turned all the way up for reasons unknown.

These are only a few of my favorite moments in Futurama, almost all the episodes are great with countless memorable parts but I can't post all them here; if I could I would.

It was an outstanding year for the Wii and what a better way to celebrate than to watch some Futurama? Enjoy.

Tales of Symphonia: Knights of Ratatosk Trailer

It's about time we got to see this game in motion! Finally a true RPG is coming to the Wii and it looks like it might be really good. If you've played the Gamecube game before this one, then you can see that your favorite characters are all making a return and in turn shows that this is a true sequel as well. Also, the graphics look much much improved over the GC game especially with the cell-shaded character models. Looks like a winner.

Wii Virtual Reality is real! Amazing!!!

Could this be the last secret of the Wii that was just stumbled upon by a smart College student? It very well could be!

This is no joke my friends! Can you imagine a game like RE: Umbrella Chronicles being played like this, or any First Person Shooter for that matter??? Absolutely amazing, my eyes popped out of my head when I first watched this! That is so easy to do, I can't believe no one thought of that before (besides Nintendo but they still haven't said anything). Give that guy a job and lets get cracking on some games that take this idea and put it to use. Complete genius.

You can download Johnny Chung Lee's software here:

Try this for yourself and let me know your experiences.

No More Heroes in-depth preview

If you were confused about how you would control Travis or the kind of gameplay you would be doing in NMH, then this video clears a lot of that up. Must buy game? I'd say so.

No More Heroes Boxart

Very nice! This looks like the final US boxart cover, how could you not want to buy it when it looks like that? It's going to need it because as of right now NMH comes out on the same day as Smash Bros Brawl. Ouch.

Baroque Wii Trailer

Atlus is bringing this to Wii labeled as a "Hardcore action RPG/Dungeon Crawler". Too bad it will be yet another PS2 port, but at least it looks dark and interesting. It may be worth a look seeing that it's coming out early next year when usually there aren't many games coming out.

New One Chanbara R Trailer

Lets see: Hot Girls check, Zombies check, Massive amounts of blood and dismemberment check. Will it come to America though? Thats the all important question.

Wireless Wii Nunchuck Finally!!!

Great news! The only question I have is if or what kind of batteries will it run on? Playing games like DBZ with this will be really fun. I can't wait to see more of it next month at CES.

New House of the Dead 2&3 screens

These games were already fun back in the day and it should be the same on the Wii. The top 3 pics are from HOTD3 and the bottom couple are HOTD2.
