Goldeneye 007 - remake or retelling?

I like the way he explained this. They are not trying to hide the fact that they cannot re-create Rare's game level for level but they can if it was in the movie. So in that sense I think they are doing a good job. I can't wait to see more soon.

I find it funny that Activision can't recreate GoldenEye the game but only the movie because you can really tell they want to.

"We've got paintball mode, golden gun mode, melee only mode, a ton of weapons you'll recognize from the original game, Jaws, Odd Job, Scaramanga as playable characters in multi, etc."

Those are all things from GoldenEye on N64, not the movie. "But, this is a retelling of the movie still, not the original game."

I just find the whole thing very silly. As long as it turns out good like the movie and the game, I don't care. I just think it's funny how they have to word it for legal reasons.

Eurocom and Activision obviously can't recreate the original N64 game because the level design is outdated. If you take a look at the demo of the first level in comparison to the original N64 one, you'll notice that it's radically different. Not to mention they are restructuring the narrative to fit with Craig's aesthetic of Bond. Yes, the multiplayer gameplay features have been a part of the original game's success, but it still isn't the entire game. Fundamentally speaking, it is different.
