Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D - Did Capcom go too far?

The internet has been a buzz with various sources saying that they either won't sell or rent Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D because of the inability to delete save data. The choice by Capcom seems to be very deliberate and not something that was just a "mistake" and that they'll fix later.

If you can even buy this game used, you'll have gotten a game that is most likely beaten already and also already has someones name in the profile. How cheap would that be? If Capcom only wants new releases to be bought and never sold back as used games then they are in for a disappointment. Word is getting out that you can't delete your save data and people are cancelling their pre-orders and and are now not planning on buying this game. How will this help sales, not to mention re-sales?

Capcom needs to recall these games as soon as possible and send out copies of the game that give you the option to erase your save data and start a new game if needed, or when buying it used you don't have to worry about playing someone else's game too. Ridiculous.
