Jeff Gerstmann fired from Gamespot in controversy

"According to the source, Gerstmann was fired "on the spot" due to advertiser pressure for his review of Eidos' Kane & Lynch: Dead Men. A visit to Gamespot shows that the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 game has taken over the site very prominently, with backgrounds and multiple banner ads all pitching Kane & Lynch. Allegedly, publisher Eidos "took issue with the review and threatened to pull its ad campaign."

Kane & Lynch has only been an average reviewed game by just about all sites, so Jeff's review of a "6.0" was not unexpected in my eyes. Could he have been fired for an accumulating of bad reviews? Many were very angry with the 8.8 he gave Twilight Princess, while giving Wario Ware a 9.1, and there are other examples as well.

Not only that but there has been an underground grumbling about Jeff being an Xbox 360 fanboy who really doesn't like the Wii to begin with and for some reason he kept being the guy to review major Wii releases. His reviews for Wii games were far lower than all other sites (besides 1up.com, there's a reason why they are not on my "sites to visit" list). All of these things had to play a part in his being fired. I'm sure he'll get a job at any anti Wii site, so worry not Jeff.

Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 - go buy the game

The first weeks sales of MOHH2 were very disappointing with only a little over 30k sold. This is a game that needs to sell at least 200k for developers to see that a good FPS can be some what successful on the Wii. Now granted EA have done very little to advertise this game and I have yet to see any TV commercials for it, but I was still hoping that sales would be higher. The game is the best controlling First Person Shooter on Wii and arguably any console. Do yourself a big favor and pick this game up, its worth the price.

Namco RPG "Fragile" revealed for Wii

This game is looking very interesting, anything with flashlights has my interest. Hopefully Namco will release more information about this soon and maybe a translation is coming also.

The Wii celebrates it's one year anniversary today

Today marks the official 1 year anniversary of when the Wii was released.

Worldwide Wii sales: 13.87 Million according to vgchartz (they are more accurate than you think)

Japan sales: 3.79 Million
United States: 6.07 Million
Europe, Australia and others: 4.02 Million

In 2 months the numbers will skyrocket. We'll see just how much Nintendo can make in that time. Right now Nintendo is making almost 2 million Wii's a month, which is up from 1 million a month earlier this year. They have said that they are trying to make them as fast as they can so hopefully they can take advantage and surpass 360 early next year in the United States.

Super Mario Galaxy London launch pics

Hey, you gotta dress the part right? Super Mario Galaxy might be the only game in a very long time to actually live up to every bit of hype that was made for it.

Best Buy making extra Wii profit?

We all know that the Wii price is $249.99 so this is either a typo by Best Buy, or they are really trying to make an extra buck on anxious consumers. I double checked and they really aren't offering anything extra with the Wii. You get Wii Sports, a Nunchuck and a Wii Remote....so that's the exact same package but for $20 more. If someone is smart all they have to do is take the Wii up to customer service and tell them that other stores are selling the Wii for $249.99 and they will have to give them the Wii at that price since they are "Best Buy" and it says that in their store policy. Funny how that works out. We'll see if there are any further reports on this, or if this is just some unfortunate mistake.

Edit:

It seems I missed the fact that this is a Canada Best Buy ad. With the dollar value in the US being so low right now, maybe the Canada Best Buy is making more than they should on that price after all. An oversight by me none the less.

Super Mario Galaxy and other big releases today

-Rayman Raving Rabbids 2
-Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles
-Medal of Honor Heroes 2
-Need for Speed: Pro Street
-Contra 4

Who is going to be picking up one of these games today? I will be getting 3 of these games. I'm really looking forward to Contra 4, I remember playing Contra 3 on the SNES when it came out back in 1992 and I'm hoping for more of the same great gameplay and difficulty with this game. Medal of Honor Heroes 2 I'm buying not for the sake of another WWII game, but solely for the control and online play. The freedom of movement is great and its nice to see a developer finally nail FPS controls on the Wii. Super Mario Galaxy was a given from day one and I hope all of you pick this game up today also (I'm sure you will or in some cases already have).

Reggie talks Wii with Fox news

Below this topic we had Manhunt 2 on the news and now we have Super Mario Galaxy. The Wii truly is something for everyone, lol. You have to admit that when Mario takes the stage, it truly is a game for everyone-kids or adults. Sell-outs are imminent.

Manhunt 2's violence really that big a deal?

Having played the game, I really don't think the censored version is much different from any other M rated game (I also think the game is good). I'll let you be the judge though and let me know what you think.
