Nintendo allowed some degree of freedom for Rare Ware in their decision making.

Microsoft has adapted the group think style and either the whole group agrees or nothing goes whiich is likely why Rare is stuck making Kinect games because the group decided that's the way to go. In fact I wouldn't put it past MS that the reason they bought Rare was to shut down competition.

At the time MS bought Rare they wanted to make their first game system X-Box but if Rare was at Nintendo there would've been some serious competition so that competition got snuffed out by offering Rareware a deal they couldn't refuse. Rare took the bait and the rest is history!

I recall Rare ware being excited about the New Deal thinking they would be able to play with the Xbox graphics and have fun experimenting. They don't have a more free economy and have to go thru government hoops to get any decisions done.

It's always been that way and up until post WW2 a business man would actually commit a ritual suicide if he failed in order to not bring shame upon the clan *family*.

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15197605.post-78088754109083395602014-05-21T22:28:57.012-07:002014-05-21T22:28:57.012-07:00Nintendo should buy back Rare and get us Banjo-Thr...Nintendo should buy back Rare and get us Banjo-Threeie which was promised to us at the end of Banjo-Tooie. I’m not a person that thinks Microsoft has ruined Rare. More like Nintendo used them to their full potential. The games on the N64 were classics and great games. I feel that if they were allowed to get back to the Virtual Console alone would be great, but when I see that there could be a possibility of reboots or new games excites me. I feel that Nintendo could use the new hardware to their advantage. Think, with Rare there might be a new game to the Banjo series or maybe play Donkey Kong 64, now redone in the HD systems or in 3D. I can only see good things coming out from this deal, if it actually happens. And as a fan of the games themselves I’d love to see the bear and bird get another amazing game or to go back to DK island one more time in a brand new game.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15197605.post-38597528084829669572012-11-15T06:03:45.840-08:002012-11-15T06:03:45.840-08:00When I think or read anything about Rare, the only...When I think or read anything about Rare, the only things that pops into my head is N64, Donkey Kong 64, and the Banjo-Kazzoie series. I don't think so. Now if Microsoft sees no value in Rare's properties like Banjo, Perfect Dark, Conker, Kemeo, Viva Pinata (I believe that was on DS a long while back) then Microsoft might be able to get a good deal on them for cash; maybe even pay off some bills. Of course; considering Nintendo just came off it's first losing year in thirty years; I think Nintendo will wait until they have made the $533 million back before they make a deal.

So no; Retro's game will not be a Rare based title. I believe it will be a sequel to Star Tropics simply because of the Uncharted rub ST has. If we see anything from Rare; it would be for Virtual Console and it would allow for Diddy Kong Racing to be on VC. Besides; Rare as we originally know it is dead and the Rare at Microsoft is by name only.Gregory Weaglenoreply@blogger.com
